British DJ and producer OCULA brings forth a euphoric blend of darkened electronica to our hearts with the release of his new single ‘Renaissance’, featuring singer-songwriter Luke Coulson on vocals for a brooding mover filled with tantalising electronic instrumentation that draws echoes to the likes of RUFUS DU SOLElderbrook and Tourist.

Utilising the raw beauty and fragility of Coulson’s haunting tones, OCULA builds the intensity from the surface with rising synths making their presence felt second by second, all while the deepened rhythm section subtly injects the addictive groove into the soundscape. As the darkened energy makes its mark on the colour palate within, OCULA tactically utilises some reverb on Coulson’s vocals to add further intensification right before the explosion of energy erupts in the latter stages where a significant shift in synth presence gives the release the emphatic ending it deserves.

“‘Renaissance’ is a special one for me because I slightly doubted my ability to write powerful, moodier songs that reflect the times where I find myself in a negative headspace, but want to transcribe those feelings into music, and I feel “Renaissance” captures that perfectly.” – OCULA
