As the world goes deeper into self-isolation, it is important to keep the lines of communication open and continue to support each other as much as we possibly can.

Acid Stag has launched a new series titled “CABIN FEVER” where we ask artists from all over the world to give us some insight into how self-isolation has affected their creativity and mental health, and also ask what they have/will be doing to keep their sanity and creativity flowing through these difficult times.

We’re checking in today with fast rising Australian artist DOOLIE!

What is your current situation; are you at home alone, with family, or friends?

DOOLIE: I’m currently living with my bf in his apartment with our new pup! Feeling pretty lucky I’m not alone.

Have you been dealing with any mental health issues as a result of this isolation?

DOOLIE: I’ve been dealing well actually. I’ve been taking this isolation to really focus on myself, my music, and my health.

What have you been doing to manage your mental state (e.g. meditation, yoga, writing music etc).

DOOLIE: I’ve spent some time trying to write some songs and practice. But I’ve also been doing some at home workouts which are fun and stop me staring at screens all day! Training my dog (she’s really easy to train and its nice one on one time together) cooking, sewing. Just trying to keep my day as busy as I can!

Have you tried collaborating with other artists online, and if that is a yes, do you feel this has helped you feel less isolated & confined?

DOOLIE: Yes! I was on the phone the other day with Chase Zera, doing some FaceTime collabin’. it definitely has helped me feel less isolated, she’s a good pal and it was such a nice catch up/session.

Do you have any words of wisdom that you would like to share with fellow artists and your fans?

DOOLIE: Being stuck at home sucks, but you should really try to take advantage of it, pick up a new hobby, kick a bad habit. Just have to remind ourselves it could be a lot worse.

What is your go-to track for ‘Feeling Good’?

DOOLIE: This is so hard.. it depends what mood I’m in. if I want feel empowered you’ll catch me listening to “Icy” by Kim Petras. Or if I’m feeling mellow / I’m stressed and want to feel mellow “Polka Dots and Moonbeams” the Gabriel Latchin Trio version (this is a real good track to listen to if you’re stuck in traffic, or a bit nervous on a flight). And just an all-round feel good tune is Sushi in Tokyo by Dvna!

Check out DOOLIE‘s latest single ‘Only For A Night’ which is available now via etcetc music.
