In the lead up for their highly-anticipated EP ‘Champagne Eyes’, British duo AlunaGeorge tease with the downtempo ‘Superior Emotion’, which enlists the raw vocals of Brooklyn based Cautious Clay for an emotionally brooding track.
With a simplistic composition of instrumentation centralised on the tight R&B styled percussion and ambient pads and synths, there is plenty of space for the restrained vocals of lead vocalist Aluna Francis to captivate with every note. To further heighten the strength in the vocal department of ‘Superior Emotion’, the raspy melodies of Cautious Clay add a layer of intrigue and are perfect to carry the emotional context that lies within the piece.
