jnr. is an alt/indie-pop project from Sydney newcomer Ben Siva, who showed up on my radar just recently when he featured on a song called ‘Crestfallen‘ by Perth duo Feels. I was quite captivated by his voice on that one and it led me down the rabbit-hole to see what else he was working on.
He has released a new single this week called ‘Cruel’ which has him working with Chinese-Australian artist JËVA, and it is a beautifully sweet song that pulls at the heartstrings as they tell the story of a relationship that has inevitably run its course…
“This was a bit of an experiment in therapy. I wrote it at the end of my last relationship – at the time I wasn’t quite sure how to end things as neither of us had done anything wrong, it had just run its course. That’s a really weird interim period that has been interesting for me to relive now that the song’s out in the world.” ~ jnr.
We better keep our eyes on both of these artists!
