Byron Bay crew Parcels are back in 2021 with a carefree anthemic offering titled ‘Free’, the first taste of new music since their ‘Live Vol 1′ album last year that allows you to take a step back and enjoy the positiveness on offer from the sun-drenched instrumentation.

As the name suggests, ‘Free’ evokes a tale of expression and openness that is made evident from not only the pristine vocals on offer, but the space created in the mix to allow each individual instrument the room to breathe and make their presence felt individually. Parcels continue to have that amazing ability of utilising nostalgic influence within their compositions, such as the quirky pianos and playful drums that provides a warmth in the mix that you just want to wrap around yourself.

“Jules wrote this song one morning when we were in lockdown, split up across separate sides of the globe. While the lyrics appeared to grapple with complications in his long-distance relationships, it couldn’t help but feel like a letter to the rest of the band at the same time. To express oneself openly and truly without fear is a freedom many of us don’t even realise we’re without.  Recognising it is an uplifting moment because then we can start to work on it. In Jules’ case, this manifested in ‘Free’ –  a hopeful call across the world for vulnerability and realness from a sunny garden in Mullumbimby.” – Parcels
