LA songwriter/producer Unlike Pluto has released his highly anticipated ‘Pluto Tapes: Volume 3.’ The album, released by Dutch label Heroic, features a diverse collection of ten tracks, each written and produced entirely by Unlike Pluto.
The first track, ‘Oh Raven’, is sure to be a fan favourite. With an impressive eighty-eight thousand plays on Soundcloud, the track is not only strong production-wise but also carries weight lyrically, extrapolating on the artist’s struggles with depression and anxiety. Contrasting to Unlike Pluto’s usual jovial personality, in ‘Oh Raven’, we see the artist playing off Edgar Allen Poe’s iconic poem “The Raven,” poignantly embracing darker themes and offering solace to those currently experiencing tough times. Other highlights on the album are “Sin Circus,” an organic track inspired by the movie “The Truman Show,” as well as brass-heavy Dark-Pop track ‘Night Light,’ ‘Revenge, And a Little More,’ and Rock-influenced “No Debate,” where fuzzy guitar riffs take centre-stage.
The release of ‘Pluto Tapes: Volume 3’ marks a bittersweet moment for fans, who though thrilled about the record were upset at the Pluto Tape’s discontinuation. However, although ‘Pluto Tapes: Volume 3’ will be the last one, Unlike Pluto is far from done releasing music. In a recent Instagram post, Pluto said “the rest of this year is going to be INSANE,” hinting at various new projects in the works and revealing that he’s already finished more than forty tracks that he plans to release in the coming months. All good things must come to an end, and with the final “Pluto Tapes” album, Unlike Pluto gives us the very best he has to offer as a producer and songwriter and evidently, fans of Unlike Pluto clearly still have a lot to look forward to!
“I’m always just looking for the next challenge, I can’t believe where my project has taken me so far and I’m excited to see what’s next!” – Unlike Pluto
