Australian icons The Avalanches continue their long-awaited return with ‘Blue Shadows’, a dreamy new collaboration featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ front-woman Karen O.
Built around a shimmering sample of Blue Gas’ 1983 Italo-disco gem ‘Shadows From Nowhere’, the track pairs the duo’s unmistakable collage-like production with Karen O’s wistful, emotionally rich vocal, resulting in one of their most atmospheric releases to date. It’s also a welcome reunion after Karen O’s appearance on their 2020 album ‘We Will Always Love You‘, and another tantalising glimpse at what’s shaping up to be a huge new chapter for the group.
