With a nostalgic nature evoked across the journey, ‘Waiting For The Punchline (Swallertrip)’ achieves this notion through the use of powerful synths that add plenty of electrification to the mix. This is furthered heightened with plenty of colour on display in the instrumentation compiled, whether that be the punchy percussion or the playful guitars that add further texture to which those soaring vocals can travel in a majestic manner above.
“This song exists on wax as “Swallertrip” simply because we found ourselves in the weird position of having to come up with a song title before we’d written the actual song. What became “Waiting For The Punchline” started out as a sketch channeling the likes of Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem and Fela Kuti. With the help of a chunky synth lead line on the ole FM stalwart Roland SH101 the tune took shape pretty quickly and with some added voicenote magic from our pal Olivia and some extra Franc Moody quirk the song has since become a staple of the live set” ~ Franc Moody
