LA-based artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist Bad Snacks returns to our hearts with a mesmerising electronic offering titled ‘howling’, a gentle yet uplifting release that offers up an enlightening soundscape that is as soothing as it is grooving.
‘howling’ evokes an eclectic nature in its approach, with various elements scattering themselves across the soundscape all while maintaining a lightness in its approach. Throughout the journey, we see moments whereby we are left astonished by differing instrumentation, such as the lusciousness of the pianos or the plethora of synths of display that weave themselves into the sparse percussive pattern on display.az
“I like to think that even when I didn’t know how to record and produce, the ideas I made during that learning period were worth seeing through,” she shares. “I ended up re-downloading [the demo], re-pitching it, and using it as the backbone of a whole séance-type beat that relies heavily on somewhat unfiltered saturation and a large sonic drop – going for more of a “feel” than an actual note at one point.”
“It feels nice to have been able to capture the vibe I was going for in 2016, but nearly a decade later” – Bad Snacks
