naafi is a Scottish newcomer who is crafting a unique blend of club-infused beats with sparkly vocal grabs and floating ambient atmospheres, creating these lush dream-like soundscapes that are quite nice to get lost in.
They released their debut single ‘Magnolia’ just last month which was a beautifully ambient soundscape-driven release, and they are backing that up this week with their latest offering ‘UVA’ which has them exploring a more club-driven direction with its pulsating energy and hypnotic vocal layers. And judging by one of their comments below, it looks like they’ll have an ep headed our way pretty soon.
“It’s about someone really caring about the way they are perceived rather than how they are. This was the last track on the EP that I wrote and I think I had developed more skills as a producer by this point. So I feel like the production in this one is the best technically. I also developed this one through playing it live; some of the synth parts weren’t in the track until I improvised it live over the top and thought ‘no, that has to be in the actual track…” ~ naafi
