We have a bit of a soft spot over here for San Fran producer Giraffage. He has one of those guys that you can be 100% certain that whatever his name is attached to, it’s going to be kick-ass good, and so I thought it would be great to touch-base with Charlie and ask how it all began for him…

“My first CD was Blink 182’s “Dude Ranch”. Technically it was my brother’s, but this was the first CD to really resonate with me as a youth. I believe I was around 7 or 8 years old. I remember listening to ‘Josie’ and ‘Damnit’ during car rides with my family, and falling in love with the melodies. I think a lot of the melodies that present in Blink 182’s sound subconsciously inform a lot of the melodies that i create for my songs.

The first song I heard and probably my favourite is ‘Josie’. It’s such a classic song to me and such a memorable vocal melody. I haven’t listened to the full album in a while but after doing this interview, I think i’m going to listen to it in its entirety for the first time in years!”

Giraffage recently announced he’ll be releasing a new album in October called “Too Real”, while also giving us its first little teaser, ‘Slowly’ featuring the smooth vocal sounds of Matosic.

And North American fans can catch Giraffage around the country throughout October/December as he hits the road for his “Too Real Tour” – click the poster below for more details
