Conrad Clifton provides us with a textural delight with varying sonic palates and influences throughout in his new album ‘BLUE PERIOD’, an electronic offering that showcases the true artistry associated within each and every luscious production base compiled.
Throughout the ten tracks on offer in ‘BLUE PERIOD’, we see the adaptability and expertise of Clifton on display with contrasting levels of energy and colour thrown about the duration of the release. On occasion we are basking within a grooving & uplifting tempo, and then on the next things are more off-kilter and mellowed feel that keeps us listeners on our toes not knowing what lies ahead.
“The title ‘BLUE PERIOD’ is a nod to Pablo Picasso’s popular era of works, and a reference to how I see music production as an art form. Also a fan of anime, I was inspired by Tsubasa Yamaguchi’s Blue Period, which explores the misconception of hard work being viewed as just talent – where some non-artistic individuals regard the “naturally talented” as having it easy – disregarding the artist’s efforts, sacrifices and countless hours honing their craft. With ‘BLUE PERIOD’, you get a clear sense of my dedication to a unique artistic expression. And as my sampled Gil Scott-Heron quote says at the end of “what u see”, there’s really something worth while here.” – Conrad Clifton
