Scottish newcomer Fourth Daughter goes from strength to strength with a euphoric new single ‘Higher (Just A Feeling)’, a splendid cut of electronic/pop that soars incredibly high with its commanding presence across all facets of the release.
There’s a lot to love about ‘Higher (Just A Feeling)’, such as the uplifting nature of the release that is evident within the playful groove held in the percussion or the brightness of the synths compiled that gives the release that anthemic feeling throughout its duration. With those captivating vocals adding further levels of pristine polish to the impressive mix on offer, Fourth Daughter gives us a release that will immediately leave us in a better mood after the first listen.
“It was written on the most freezing day at the beginning of December last year, which is kinda funny given how summery the song is…I was in the studio for a full week with the same producer and we were a couple days in at this point. We had been writing darker songs so, on this day, I felt like writing the complete opposite to mix it up. The song was written from scratch in about six hours and felt like a total blur because we were just in the zone and on a total high writing it!
Lyrically the inspiration was just about how looking forward can actually be the thing to carry you – when you feel optimism about letting go and you’re just buzzing. I wish I could bottle the feeling that went into the song that day.” ~ Fourth Daughter
