‘Another Life’ sets the tone with an off-kilter drum pattern alongside the deepened backbone of the smoothened bass line and rhodes that create a haunting landscape for Explorer’s utterly stunning vocals to magnetise all within their path. With various colours on display such as the bright keys providing an enlightenment and contrast to the darkened palate on offer, boerd lures you in with much intrigue and leaves you locked in with all of the captivation on display across all facets of this masterful release.
“I had planned to keep this as an instrumental track, with a long rhodes solo in it. Luckily, my plans changed after Stella recorded these vocals. The song came out pretty majestic in the end! And for all the music theory nerds out there: correct me if I’m wrong but I believe this is the first song I’ve released with a 3/4 time signature.” – Boerd
