Last week we were treated to a new single from New York City producer Jai Wolf, it was called ‘Indian Summer’ and it is being released on ODESZA’s newly founded Foreign Family Collective imprint.
We reached out to the Wolf himself this week to ask where it his world of music began, and lucky for us all he had one really good friend.

“Growing up, my parents really only let me listen to classical music (I started learning the violin at 5) and traditional Indian / Bengali classical music. It wasn’t until 2005 that I started to listen to music on the radio in secret. I was living in Pittsburgh at the time – during the summer of 2005. I found out we were moving to New York and my friend gave me ‘American Idiot’ by Green Day as a parting gift.
From the car ride to New York, to the first few lonely weeks of starting a new school (it was high school too) I listened to that album from front to back several times. That album was the gateway to other pop punk bands for me – I got into Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Blink 182 because of Green Day. I don’t really listen to that genre anymore and hearing songs off of American Idiot make me really nostalgic and a little sad since it reminds me of the move from Pittsburgh to New York. And that’s my first album!”

I think a lot of us can relate to Green Day as a teenager – oh the memories!
