Matt Ryder provides us with a tale of reflection through an upbeat new single titled ‘Snow’, a soothing offering that travels in quite a gentle manner with a breeziness maintained through the entire duration of the release.
‘Snow’ contrasts the emotive messaging within the lyricism with an upbeat soundscape comprised of uplifting guitars, swirling synths and smoothened bass that ensures an enlightenment across the duration that allows those calming vocals to sit perfectly in the centre of the mix and in doing so achieves an atmospheric touch to the production.
“I Didn’t really know what I was doing with snow until a few months later I listened back to the song. I realised it was something I, personally, really needed to hear. It felt like a tiny part of myself was telling me it’s ok to miss the bad times, the good times, all of it. I Know it’s such a niche thing to say but I think it really is a song of nuance. That melancholy feeling of realising you’re moving on maybe???
Honestly the more I write this the more I realise maybe I still don’t 100% get the full picture, when it comes to this song, as it is more of a feeling/instinct to me than a message. I guess overall, like all of the music included in this project, it’s about growth and learning. Learning to be yourself and comfortable with that. The good, the bad and the ugly.
As Snow dropped today I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has stuck with this music, and anyone new who is discovering me or the message for the first time. It means the world that this song can be yours now and very soon the whole EP. Thank you so much, love Matt xx” ~ Matt Ryder (via Instagram)
