“The first time I ever truly fell in love, I went to New York to visit that girl (who I would later date for 4 years) on a whim, just hoping she’d want to see me and hang out. Thankfully, she did.
“Aperol” is about floating through the city with her in a record-breaking heat wave, drinking Aperol, laughing at nothing and wondering what the future would be.
That relationship ended around the same time the album was being made, but I still cherish the feeling of the very beginning of it all. It always felt like a gust of wind was pushing me towards her. I made this song so I remember what that felt like forever.” – DLG.
