‘Hypnotise’ does as its title suggests and pulls you into a world filled with wonder and intrigue. This dimension is created with the use of a club-influence within the instrumentation compiled, with an off-kilter percussive pattern that carries forth a hefty amount of groove and is accentuated further by the rising synth presence and haunting vocals scattered across the top of the mix.
“Hypnotise is a track I built with vocals as the central focal point. At the time, I was re-structuring how I sample vocals, experimenting with syncopation and arrangement to lock them more naturally into a groove. The result evokes a slightly moody, but club ready atmosphere, drawing subtle influence from early UK garage and dubstep. The drums are distorted, layered with warped bass lines and a weighty kick giving the track its grit. A key focus for Hypnotise was creating tension and release: airy synths and reverb vocal lines build moments of euphoria, which then collapse into grungier, bass-driven drops.” ~ Amraks
