Wellington-based artist, producer, and songwriter Tarn PK delves into the swirls of 9-5 life in the city with an impressive new single ‘Cry Baby’, a welcomed glimpse into a forthcoming EP that sees a plethora of influence scattered across a soaring production base.
‘Cry Baby’ is manipulated very carefully throughout its journey, with plenty of instrumentation scattered across the duration of the release but somehow finding a way to give each individual element its moment to shine. With the brittle percussion setting the tone from the initial stages, Tarn PK builds subtly through a mix of electronic and organic instrumentation that help bring a welcomed level of energy amongst those commanding vocals that swirl across the top of the mix.
“Cry Baby’ came from a time of feeling like I wasn’t moving forward and thinking “what am Igoing to do about this? There’s no point feeling sorry for myself, I might as well just makethe most of my circumstances”. A big part for me was trying to detach from my expectationsand just appreciate things as they currently are.” – Tarn PK
