Naarm/Melbourne-based producer duo Close Counters have been quite the busy pair in recent times. They’ve stunned us all with their ARIA-charting independent third album ‘LOVERS DANCE ACADEMY’, as well as just wrapping up their Australian tour and soon to be heading to UK/Europe for a run of festivals such as Glastonbury, so amongst all of that they’ve found a way to deliver a stirring new single titled ‘BUTTER BREAD’ which features shiv.
In true Close Counters fashion, ‘BUTTER BREAD’ manages to once again find a way to deliver a breezy soundscape filled with groove and silkiness across all facets of the release. With shiv‘s luscious vocals setting the tone in the initial stages, Close Counters work in close tandem with the stunning vocals to build a sublime production filled with glowing synths, crisp grooves in the percussion as well as a smoothened bass line that oozes charisma across your speakers.
“This song is about looking back on a time that felt right – when love was easy and full of possibility. It’s nostalgic and reflects on the closeness that once was, but with an understanding that things have changed. There’s a bit of longing, but also a quiet appreciation for the memories that linger.” – Allan McConnell, Close Counters
