Gold Panda has been very busy lately and has dropped a new collaborative EP with Tourist called ‘Us Two’ that blends together both of the producers sounds to create a series of harmonious soundscapes.
‘Us Two’ is a very uplifting EP. Each track has an ethereal quality to it, with bright atmospherics floating alongside humming synths and delicate tones. ‘+1’ slowly builds as chopped vocals bounce with light percussion, and when we reach the track climax, there’s no massive explosion of sound, instead we drop down to a simplistic melody that has a lot of movement and uses minimalist production to propel us forward. ‘Us Two’ uses a similar approach, with deep, cooling synths taking charge and boosting the percussion and subtle vocal samples into humming atmospherics and twinkling tones.
Vocal samples lead the charge on ‘Tomorrow’, with an energetic and specious melody filled with high hats, creating a playful atmosphere, and with ‘Acrylic’, we have an extremely slow build, filled with subtle vocal samples and sharp tones that slice through gentle atmospherics. ‘Us Two’ is an incredibly sweet EP and a perfect example of less is more production, as every track makes an impact.
