Scottish-born Melbourne-based producer Noneohone has been on the scene for quite some time and today, he’s released a double track single called ‘Gilberto’, showcasing his crisp production style.
Blending a variety of elements and influences from the underground UK rave scene, Noneohone creates precise melodies that have an air of both nostalgia and futurism about them. ‘Gilberto’ itself has a very house-inspired groove, with hollow tones bouncing alongside buzzing synths, high-pitched atmospherics, and gentle vocal samples to create a melody that’s minimal, yet still impactful.
‘Island’ takes a bit of a different turn, with more Latin-influenced elements merging into tropical tones and atmospherics that swing beneath extremely delicate percussion. It’s a very uplifting track and showcases an area of production Noneohone has been exploring.
“Music is an escape. I’ve always been interested in tunes that don’t quite fit neatly into one box or another genre wise. Stuff that is hard to categorise, eclecticism a la floating points or Ben UFO. Both these tracks are distant cousins of UK garage/house. Skippy percussive beats filtered though a sepia tone haze, as if a crate of white labels got lost and washed up on a palm tree lined beach…Warped, a little moody and desperate for a drink.” – Noneohone
