Charles Rojas – ‘Wish I Knew’

NYC-based artist Charles Rojas continues to provide us with some of the grooviest tracks going around with ‘Wish I Knew’, a sublime cut of sun-kissed goodness that evokes the best of summer no matter where you are placed in the world.

‘Wish I Knew’ provides so much groove to the masses throughout its journey, with flawless disco/funk styled influence being scattered across the soundscape courtesy of a crunchy percussive presence that is coupled ever so nicely with the smoothened bass line. This sets the scene for the shiny guitars to add further vibrancy to the already boastful mix, and with the luscious vocals adding that extra polish we are left spellbound with plenty to admire about this release.

“A little over a year ago, I realized I wanted to put together my first album. After experimenting with different genres, I realized I had this Funk guitar motif that could unite several song ideas together. To open the album, I needed something that felt really free and could set the right tone. “Wish I Knew” was my attempt at doing so. I tried to keep the energy up while not caring too much about following any specific rules or structure. Lyrically, it felt really open & inviting, to the point where I was able to freely blend English and Spanish. Combined with the Disco instrumentation, the end result is a stream-of-consciousness-style overture for the album.” – Charles Rojas
