As we get closer and closer to the release of his upcoming album ‘Hole Erth’, Toro y Moi continues to drip feed us glimpses of what’s to come and today he’s got two brand new singles for us to bask in with ‘Hollywood’ which features Death Cab For Cutie/Postal Service leader Benjamin Gibbard and ‘CD-R’.
‘Hollywood’ gives off a laid-back vibe from the outset, with a smooth groove held in the initial stages alongside those breezy melodies that work in tandem with the guitar riff which is so central to the composition, with a momentary intensification through an off-kilter styled explosion of sound. ‘CD-R’ continues this trend of a relaxed soundscape with a more minimalistic approach to the instrumentation compiled which give the calming vocals plenty of room to shine.
“i’ve been a fan of ben’s music for some time now and it only felt right to have him be apart of this record. with the album having themes of angst and nostalgia, “Hollywood” felt like a perfect fit” – Toro Y Moi (via Instagram)
