Jerome Blazé – ‘Living Room’

Sydney multi-instrumentalist Jerome Blazé has absolutely stunned in recent months with a handful of captivating singles, and now comes through with news of a sophomore album in October via the release of the title track in ‘Living Room’, another beautiful display of musicianship with luscious instrumentation and vocals that will leave you in awe.

In true Jerome Blazé fashion, ‘Living Room’ carries forth a breeziness through captivating instrumentation that transfers a carefree attitude across the soundscape all while those laid-back vocals soar across the top of the mix in a tranquil manner. ‘Living Room’ instills a warmth within its production, with a combination of strings and piano adding a divine nature to the soundscape and really tugging at your heart strings with its beauty on offer.

“It started with me sending some chords over to my friend James Tarbotton, who plays violin. Rather than layering strings on top of an already developed track, I wanted to flip the process and start the track with strings, almost treating them as a sample. James sent back a beautiful arrangement of those chords and from there it was just about layering on around it. The whole trip-hop vibe was a subconscious influence at first, but once I realised what I was drawing on, I doubled down and really leaned into that groove armada-esque feel. The Yo-Yo Ma sample was actually something that arose out of the live version of the song that I played at my Phoenix Central Park performance in 2023. I heard Yo-Yo Ma speaking on a podcast and the way he spoke about music just sounded so beautiful. I thought playing a spoken sample in Phoenix space would feel really appropriate and I liked it so much live that I eventually added it into the actual track.” – Jerome Blazé
