Melbourne producer Dave Machine brings the future to life with a unique soundscape in his brand new single ‘Real Life’, a quirky offering filled with off-kilter instrumentation and liveliness that splashes a ridiculous amount of vibrancy amongst the mix on offer.
‘Real Life’ evokes a robotic feel from the initial stages, with a computerised feel to the vocals that builds the intrigue amongst the rising percussion bubbling away at the surface until it explodes in the chorus periods. This is where we are met with an array of sound and energy, whether that be through the razor-sharp synths, the buoyant vocal samples or just the playful groove held in the percussion that when intertwined with one another results in a captivating display of electronic music that pushes the boundaries to true effect.
“Real Life had been floating around on my hard drive for a while, I revisited it after producing Amutha’s EP. I tried chopping up some of the vocals from that. The affected chops had this almost robotic uncanny valley style that really fit the feeling I was going for.” – Dave Machine
