It’s been a very long time since we were last graced with new music from MGMT, but this week the world was stunned with news of a brand new album ‘Loss of Life’ dropping February next year, and in doing so dropped a luscious new single titled ‘Mother Nature’ that provides a breeziness that soothes your soul.
‘Mother Nature’ ensures a carefree nature within its duration with a clear focus on atmospheric bliss, mainly evident in the uplifting acoustic guitars and brittle percussion setting the podium in tact for those laid-back vocals that float majestically atop of the instrumentation at hand. With a slight intensification through the distorted electric guitars in the back half of the release, ‘Mother Nature’ maintains a cohesion throughout its journey without overcomplicating the mix and in fact adding an incredible level of depth within its production.
MGMT states that the song “outlines the archetypical MGMT mythology of one hero attempting to get the other hero to come on the journey that they ‘must’ go on. One part sounds like Oasis.”
