Fresh off their 2023 Music Victoria Award-winning and Australian Music Prize-nominated album, ‘SOULACOASTA II’ Australian duo Close Counters come through with a little gift to round out the year in style with ‘HOUSE OF LUCIEN / PROTOTYPE’, two flips that have further groove and atmosphere added to give that trademark Close Counters style.

Both tracks encompass everything there is to love about Close Counters, that being infectious grooves and uplifting soundscapes filled with positivity and captivation. With plenty of flavour and uptempo groove, it is simply impossible not to get on your feet and moving to these individual offerings with a sublime soundscape on offer that is the perfect way to bring in summer.

“these edits are for the hip-hop fans who also like to push the tempo a bit. We wanted to reimagine these tunes so we can play them in our sets. Having listened to a lot of Outkast and tribe called quest in a formative years, we wanted to do a little tribute in our own style. ‘Bruk of Lucien’ and ‘House of Lucien’ are flips of ‘Luck of Lucien’ by ATCQ which also samples the tune ‘Fourty Days’ by Billie Brooks, we actually use a bit of the original Sample and tribe called quest tune in our flip. So it’s actually a bit of a nod to both. Ironically we dropped the outkast edit the same week that André 3000 dropped his ambient flute album, so at least now we have something for the club and for after the club.” – Close Counters
