Danish producer CODIA has released his debut album this week titled “MMXXIII” which he says is a collection of songs that are the result of experimentation and telling stories.

The album is made up on nine songs which is comprised of five original versions and four instrumentals. His newest single ‘Something Like This’ opens the album and I was instantly taken away to a lush daydreaming wonderland of airy vocal layers, softly padded beats and atmospheric synths.

This is a very nice addition to the album library. Thanks CODIA!

”Back in 2021, I challenged myself to finish more projects by putting out a track every 4-6 weeks. It was fun and felt rewarding in a way, but it also made me feel a bit stagnant in terms of developing my sound, since the challenge required efficiency more than exploration. So, in 2022, I didn’t put out a single track for six months, but instead focused on experimenting, on telling stories, on improving my craft as an artist. My projects folder says it all: “CODIA V2”. The break culminated in the release of ‘Ego’ as a single – now the second track of ‘MMXXIII’ (read: 2023). One of my most popular tracks to date. More projects followed and now, the release of ‘MMXXIII’ has gathered my top five of tracks + four instrumental versions, including the newest track ‘Something Like This’.

‘MMXXIII’ is the product of numerous influences, such as Flume, Jamie xx, Tourist, RÜFÜS DU SOL and many more. It combines lush, soft pads with deep, gritty basses; synth stabs with syncopated beats; and textural drones with dreamy (and in Ego’s case: a bit sassy) vocal parts.” ~ CODIA
