It’s been a little while since we last heard from Zolly (aka Phil from Crooked Colours), but he’s making up for lost time now with the release of a new single titled ‘It Was You’, a polished dance release that provides plenty of groove and uplift alongside the angelic vocals of Woodes.
Being a two year gap in between releases, Zolly wastes no time in bringing the uptempo groove into the soundscape with a subtle percussive pattern setting the tone in the backdrop amongst the rising synths and Woodes‘ stunning vocals that build beautifully with the vibrant and spacious instrumentation on offer. As we arrive at the chorus section, ZOLLY provides even more energy and uplift with the synths and buoyant percussion giving listeners the perfect dance bracket.
“Woodes sent me this vocal earlier in the year and I instantly fell in love with it. It was fragile and sincere and everything I love about pop lyrics. I found an instrumental demo of mine in the same key, and they worked really well together, so it only took a little bitof tweaking to get it where it is now. Woodes absolutely smashed it and I hope you enjoy.” – ZOLLY
