Alter Boy – ‘No One’s Gone Like You’

With two showcases coming up this week at Bigsound, Alter Boy brings forth plenty of heat and menacing energy in their brand new single ‘No One’s Gone Like You’, a darkened electronic offering filled with thought provoking messaging in the lyricism as well as brooding instrumentation which collectively packs a serious punch overall.

Depicting a tale of losing one’s faith, Alter Boy invites us into a raw and intimate space in the early stages with a murky soundscape created with those swirling pads and synths setting the tone alongside the haunting vocals. As we progress through, the intensity rises through some deepened beats and powerful synths which provide further emphasis and passion into the already commanding performance at hand.

“Loss of faith is an understated form of relational grief. When we lose a belief system, we have to reassess the very nature of the world and the nature of people. It’s a massive reorientation compounded by disillusionment, grief, shame, isolation, and identity annihilation. If there is no higher lesson, no high power, and no karmic reward system, then the assumption might be well I must have deserved those things that happened to me and there’s a tremendous amount of shame and self-hatred knotted into that.” – Alter Boy
