Australian electronic duo YesYou return with their first single release in nearly two years through ‘So Real’, a soulfully-inspired offering with plenty of laid-back feeling held in the core of the piece that results in a mesmerising delight.
Featuring the stirring melodies of Damon Trueitt, ‘So Real’ carries forth a relaxed groove that you’ll find yourself tapping your feet to immediately that is complimented by the richness in the accompanying instrumentation of lush pianos that add plenty of character to the mix. With a thick synth bass stabbing its way through, YesYou provide plenty of depth in their production whilst maintain a cohesive balance between all of the above instrumentation to ensure an easy-going nature is carried through all aspects of the piece.
“At the beginning of 2016, we started to realise we’d lost sight of why we started the project and it stopped being fun. We’d been in the studio five days a week for the last three years and getting bogged down in making music we thought people wanted to hear. We’d lost ourselves in overthinking each second of every song. Stepping away from focussing solely on the project gave us time to work on and release some music with no pressure and no expectations. We haven’t enjoyed releasing music this much for as long as we can remember.” – YesYou
