After a pretty busy year of releases in 2019 which included his debut album “World Sounds”, Dutch artist Dread Pitt is kicking off the new year with an infectious electro/rap Middle Eastern treat called ‘Don’t Hold Me Off’ which has him teaming up with a rapper/singer from Rotterdam called Josimar Gomes, and I think their sounds and styles work pretty damn well together.
“Back when I was in Marrakech, I was very inspired by the arabic sounds I heard on the streets. Especially the percussion was very interesting. So when I got home, I started digging into arabic music and practicing arabic percussion instruments. This song is one of the first songs where I blended a lot of arabic sounds, did some of the percussion myself. The vocal by Josimar ties it all together nicely.” – Dread Pitt
