DROELOE, the Netherlandic two-piece, have garnered worldwide acclaim in recent years for their singular approach to electronic music. In their seemingly instant ascent to the top of electronic mount olympus, with credit due to San Holo’s burgeoning label bitbird, the duo’s put out stellar single after single, each time raising the bar they’ve set for themselves, and it seems that they’re just now started to officially arrive.
Their newest piece comes in the form of a double A-side release. One song in particular, ‘Through The Storm’ (featuring FYTCH) struck a particular chord with me. DROELOE has always been a name that I gladly take time out of my day to listen to their new music. ‘Through The Storm’ sits in an echelon a bit higher than the rest, though. For fans, it’s widely known that the duo relies heavily on use of emotive chord structures and haunting melodies, but there’s a certain flare to this song, though one I can’t put my finger on, that displays the band’s increasing maturity. There’s a certain level of emotion in this song that isn’t as present in the rest of the band’s discography. That’s not to say that the rest of their music isn’t spectacular, because it is, but this song really shines through.
‘Through The Storm’ is out now via bitbird, along with another single titled ‘Facing The Sea’. Both are available for streaming and purchase below.
