Brooklyn producer Element brings forth another snippet off his forthcoming EP, and arguably his best work yet with the brooding ‘You’, which enlists the lush vocals of Boston singer/songwriter Khamari.
The core of the track is identified to us from the word go in ‘You’, evident in the darkness surrounding the soundscape through the manipulation of swooping pads to lay solid foundations that set the scene for Khamari to deliver the emotional context of the track. Providing an effortless yet crisp vocal delivery that draws comparisons to Khalid, Khamari’s entrancing melodies are only heightened through the implementation of empowering percussion that pierces through the mix with solid impact throughout.
Element cleverly draws back the intensity of the soundscape in the ‘pre-chorus’ without losing the core drive hidden within the composition, before hitting us with an impressive chorus period full of driving percussion, an ominous bass line and haunting sampled vocals that cohesively blend together without overbearing the mix.
