Brisbane trio Good Boy are in Sydney this week for the Red Bull Sound Select event that’s happening tonight at Marrickville Bowling Club, and we thought it might be a good chance to say hello and ask them where their love of music began – here’s what Tom Lindeman, 1/3 of Good Boy, had to say…

“My first album was Hanson – Middle of Nowhere and it was a Christmas present from my mum and dad. I’m not going to talk about this album because, 1 – it was a present and 2 – I can’t say it’s had any effect on my musical career TBH. So instead I’ll talk about the first album I bought, “Jet – Get Born”.

This record blew my 11-year-old mind and remains to do so. So many songs have stuck with me through the years. The jingle of a tambourine still triggers me into singing “Are you gonna be my girl”. I’d say the one song that I loved most however was “Timothy”. When I was younger I didn’t really understand what was going on with the lyrics but I just loved the vocal melodies and acoustic guitar. It wasn’t until I was older that I understood the lyrical content. This record definitely got me more interested in music and especially guitars. I’d been playing drums for a few years before listening to the album, however that quickly changed. Anyway, I friccin love this record and I still listen to it today!”
