Last Friday saw the long-awaited release of “Mellow Waves”, the first album from Japanese artist Cornelius in over 11-years, and I for one have been so damn excited to get in across my ears.
His sound & style hasn’t changed much during that time, but it’s actually a good thing in my mind as it’s made me realize how much I really loved his earlier releases, and I have gone back through some of them over the last few days, reminiscing and enjoying his timeless sounds all over again.
“Mellow Waves” is beautifully atmospheric, cute, playful and has a really enjoyable retro-futuristic aesthetic.
Welcome back Cornelius, and thank you for such a very cool new collection of tunes.
