Over the final months of 2016, Brisbane producer cln was keeping himself busy composing a diverse collection of electronic music with Australian songstress Katie Noonan, which they’ve called ‘Glass Heart’.

They then performed that music live over six sold-out shows in collaboration with the Queensland Ballet back in February as part of their ‘Bespoke’ program, under the creative direction of renowned choreographer Amy Hollingsworth, and artistic director Li Cunxin.

Amongst all of this cln has still found the time to write and record a few new original songs, and this week he is sharing the first of these with us called ‘breathe’, which is being released via Skrillex’s imprint OWSLA / NEST, and it is absolutely breathe-taking to say the least.

“I mostly make music really late at night. I think that’s when my best ideas come out. When I’m fully alert, I tend to overanalyse things and get rid of my best ideas. The original idea for this song came about at around 3am, I think it was while I was preparing for my first US tour [last September]. I’ve tried my best not to over think this song. I wanted to keep the initial idea as close to its original state as possible. I suppose that way, the final product is more honest, taken straight from my sleep-deprived brain.” – cln
