‘Hiraeth’ is a new two-track release from a female producer out of Istanbul/London who goes by the name Villette, and I have to say they made my transition into the new week quite a pleasant one.
‘To the Nighthouse’ is a beautifully cinematic, electronic dance track that has some very striking orchestral string elements that are sampled from Swedish multi-instrumentalist Linnea Olsson, while ‘North and South’ continues the 12-minute journey of aural bliss with its pulsing bass, analogue synths, driving atmospherics, and the sampled strings from Martin Phipps’ moving soundtrack to the BBC’s ‘North and South’ TV series.
