The Knocks – ‘Testify EP’ [Review]

All of the yes’s! Here is a duo that I’ve followed for a good three years now and the latest ‘TESTIFY EP’ has me feeling all kinds of good.

Fresh from dominating a European tour supporting Justin Bieber last year, it’s now time for The Knocks to focus on their own ventures, starting with this funk-a-licious five track EP.

Their electronic productions with R&B vibes is what really makes their sound unique and memorable. The cohesion between these five tracks makes for a solid body of work and has that signature Knocks schtick.

‘Trouble’ was the first taste we got of this EP and it has already clocked up a healthy number of streams. It’s dreamy and chill; perfect for that road trip playlist.

While tracks like ‘Worship’ and ‘Heat’ are more uplifting and pop-inspired, it’s ‘Feel Love’ featuring vocals by Delacey that has really left an impression on me. With its darker tones, thick productions and emotionally charged lyrics it’s a standout and one I’ll have on repeat.

I also really connected with ‘Your Eyes’ featuring vocals by Tayla Parx. It’s probably the most pop sounding track on the EP but one that will have great commercial success for The Knocks. I can actually hear this on the radio in Australia! I hope it happens.

Rating: ★★★

‘Testify EP’ is available everywhere now through Big Beat / Neon Gold, and North American fans can catch The Knocks around the country throughout February/March as they take their ‘Feel Good Feel Great Tour’ on the road, and I have a sneaky suspicion it won’t be too long before they make their way down under and we get to share in the glory of their live and funky music!
