We Review NUSSY at The Workers Club – July 30, 2016

Saturday night was a celebration of NUSSY’s (pictured above) latest single ‘Body Talk’, and having met this lovely lady a few weeks ago I just knew I couldn’t miss out on seeing her live.

In support of NUSSY’s performance was fellow Melbourne gal BATTS (pictured below). Now, I’ve seen BATTS live a few times before and I never get sick of her sound. She is one of those artists who consistently brings a soulful splendour through her electronic productions, and gives her audience every last morsel of her being.

BATTS is in very good company as her best mates LANKS, Hayden Calnin and Lachlan O’Kane join her in this musical conquest as they performed her string of hits including ‘Kiki’ (my personal favourite), ‘For That I’m Sorry’, ‘Morals’ and even a cover of Daughter’s ‘Youth’. I have no doubt we’ll be seeing plenty more from this talented artist, and we can’t wait.

The woman of the hour was of course NUSSY and boy oh boy was she looking fierce. Sporting a trio of braids and a kickass Hips and Bones coloured coat, this girl was ready to dazzle. And dazzle she did.

I gotta say, the addition of the fairy lights draped along the front of the stage and on the mic stand was utter perfection and tied in with the overall aesthetic I believe NUSSY was going for.

Joined on stage by her band mates Nelson and Bestie, is a trio that oozes with chemistry. Opening the set with her upbeat grooves including ‘Dizzy’, NUSSY had the audience bopping and dancing along. The 80s inspired pop-electronic sounds are what make this artist memorable and the solid productions make for a seasoned show.

The Workers Club was packed out, and rightly so. Here is a female artist who knows exactly who she is and just enjoys her own music. NUSSY has a vibrant and warm personality and this really shines through her music, especially as she mixes things up between the upbeat and mellow.

Throughout the set NUSSY played songs from her debut self-titled EP including ‘Prowling’ and ‘The Other Side’, as well as my personal favourite ‘Sinking Into You’. However, the evening was all about her latest single ‘Body Talk’ and all we can say about this track is add it to your sex playlist cause this slow grind is an absolute winner.

The future of Aussie music has never looked so good and I can’t wait to see what else NUSSY brings out cause she is hot, hot, hot.
