Back in September we shared the news that founding members of The Rapture, Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel Andruzzi, had started a new project together called Vito & Druzzi, and at the time they shared their incredible debut single ‘It’s EZ”.
The boys have been busy working on a bunch of new material, and today they’ve asked us to premiere one of those works, it’s a remix they’ve done of Hugh Masekela‘s 1985 hit, ‘Don’t Go Lose It Baby’ – prepare yourself for some super-infectious, jungle-disco sounds.
“Mr. Masekela has always had a special place in the hearts of Vito & Druzzi. While one of Druzzi’s all time favorite tracks is the protest funk track “Mace and Grenades” Vito’s experience of Hugh back in the Summer of 1999 portended his musical life to come” – Druzzi
“When I moved to NYC in the summer of 1999 one of the first shows I saw was Hugh Masekela in Central Park. I wasn’t very familiar with his music (he was playing with Carl Craig who I had come to see) but after his concert I left a life long fan. Watching him live was incredibly inspiring. Man! Could he play a mean cowbell!!!” – Vito
Be sure to hit-up Vito & Druzzi via their socials below to be kept in the loop on all of their upcoming releases, but before you go anywhere, let’s revisit the above mentioned single, ‘It’s EZ’
