Daphni, the alter-ego of Caribou’s Dan Snaith, has intertwined organic and electronic instrumentation together to create an utterly captivating release titled ‘Sad Piano House’, which depicts the structure of the track perfectly with a driving backbone all to the tune of a more somber, piano-led narrative.
‘Sad Piano House’ initially sets itself up in an off-kilter manner through the quirky groove held in the percussion, which swiftly is complimented by the lusciousness of the pianos which both counteract and compliment the electronic/dance influence on offer, and in doing so ensures a rich contrast in the colours evoked in the soundscape.
