Juney Boy, the brand new side-project by Jaden Parkes & Cody Wilcox of LEISURE has come out of the gates charging with a soaring single titled ‘Submarine’, an expansive offering that showcases ascending instrumentation and atmospheric vocals that maintains a breeziness across the duration of the release.
‘Submarine’ maintains a laid-back feel in its core, whereby the crunchy percussion sets a brittleness across the soundscape and acts as the launching pad for Parkes’ floating vocals and sublime grooves held in the bass line. As we progress through, the ascending nature of the release becomes more and more prevalent courtesy of the buzzing guitars and bright keys adding not only plenty of depth into the production but further texture to the colour palate compiled.
“The song submarine at its core is about escapism, the lyrics float around feelings of wanting a vacation and diving deep, to see things and feel feelings you’ve never felt before. The unexplored depth of the ocean has always been a strong pull point of inspiration for writing.
