Following on from featuring on frequent collaborator Golden Features‘ single ‘Touch’ earlier this year, Melbourne vocalist and producer Rromarin comes through with a bold and commanding new single titled ‘Taste of V’, a hard-hitting and brooding offering that packs some serious force within its swift three minute duration.

From the word go, we are immediately met with the enforcing nature of ‘Taste of V’ through the deepened percussion making its presence felt alongside the robust synth bass that sets the ultra-strong foundations in tact for Rromarin‘s captivating vocals that play off the groove set within the rhythm section throughout. Even with a menacing podium in tact throughout ‘Taste of V’, Rromarin manipulates the mix perfectly to allow for plenty of space for those hazy melodies to take centre stage and send goosebumps down your arms with their raw beauty.

“While playful, flirty and tongue-in-cheek,‘Taste of V’is also a deeper commentary on my experiences as a female artist navigating a largely conservative music industry…Over the years there have been countless moments in which I’ve been pressured by those in power to dilute my creative vision, to write music that is ‘safe’ and ‘accessible’-in other words, ‘vanilla’.This pressure to conform and fit in the box also extended to my identity as Rromarin, and is an issue that I felt deeply when making the decision to step into motherhood.‘Taste of V’is my response and retaliation to this; it is a celebration of taking creative risks, a challenge to those who don’t, and my attempt to break the stereotype of what a female artist should be.”
