After stunning us with his previous EP ‘Soundless Motion’ late last year, Birmingham-born, London-based producer Matt Ryder continues to bend the boundaries of modern electronica with his energising new release ‘Escape’, a six-track sonic odyssey filled with resounding soundscapes filled with raw emotion and passion that strike a chord immediately. Throughout the journey that is ‘Escape’, Ryder lures us in immediately with those penetrating drum and bass style grooves that pierce through the mix alongside the buoyant synths and keys on offer that inject that eclectic nature into the core of the track. With stirring melodies floating majestically across the atmosphere, Ryder’s mesmerising vocals send shivers down your arms with their raw beauty and adds a further layer of mysteriousness to the already jam-packed production base.
“This EP has been a massive journey for me, I started making this music when I was 16 – at the start of lockdown – and finished when I was 18, it really was an emotional rollercoaster. Over the course of the EP I came to terms with my own sexuality and relationships, went through classic coming of age stories and discovered so many different parts of myself and my life.” – Matt Ryder
