Glasgow-based producer obviouslydan continues to unearth some profound sonic odysseys with that energetic approach to his compositions with his brand new single ‘Martha’, named after Australia’s own Martha Kalifatidis from Married at First Sight Australia that evokes a garage/industrial styled influence in its core with plenty of vibrancy to go around.
‘Martha’ begins with a sample from the star herself that is surrounded amongst the tantalising instrumentation that makes an immediate impact, and then takes off into outer space with an off-kilter groove bringing plenty of flavour to the mix. obviouslydan energises the soundscape through a considerable amount of synth presence that ensures a sparsity, as well as knowing the right moments to pull the narrative back and forth with some classy production techniques to keep us engaged throughout.
“Martha is the garage follow up single to my track Emily after wanting to write something with a similar euphoric emotive feel but in a fresh rhythm. It’s had a few renditions but was so glad when I finished it as I knew it was worth all the mixing, arranging and noodling. It’s named after Martha Kalifatidis after watching a lot of Married at First Sight Australia over lockdown and her being one of the best cast members and a flat favourite. She’s also the voice at the beginning and I’d love it if the tune eventually made it to her ears. Hope everyone loves it as much as I loved making it.”
