MY PLAYLIST is a series where we ask some of our favourite artists to share some of their favourite songs, and while it may give us a bit of insight into some their influences we’re also super keen to see what they enjoy listening to when they’re not making music.

This week we’re checking in with Gold Coast trio daste. who are two singles into their debut album release cycle, and if those two songs are anything to go by we are in for quite a treat. Band member Callum MacDonald gives us some insight into the origins of this playlist and the inspiration it gives them to make the type of music that they create.

“Dusk & Blaze is a playlist I’ve had since I can remember. It was just for my go-to music at the time and the name was inspired by a song called ‘Dust & Gold’ by OKBADLANDS. When I met the daste. boys I’d put it on after rehearsals and we always inherently looked at it as our melting pot of inspiration. We always hope that when people find us on Spotify, they have a look through Dusk & Blaze and gain a better understanding of what makes us make the music we do.” – Callum MacDonald (of daste.)

Here are daste’s two recent singles ‘somebody like you’ and ‘either way’, and stay tuned for more new music from these guys over the next few months in the lead up to their debut album “dusk / dawn” which is set for release in July.
