I spent most of this year at my parents’ house in my childhood bedroom, and I think I’d be lying if I said that didn’t greatly impact my list for 2020. This is likely why my list ended up breaking into two categories: acoustic melodies I took comfort in when I was really going through it, and absolute anthems that I blasted during solo dance parties at 2 am.

2020’s albums were both a much-needed outlet of expression and a serious spark of joy through every missed concert and cancelled DJ set. I found so much comfort in and appreciation for every artist who willingly poured their hearts out – be it a guitar or an 808 – so that the rest of us had something to look forward to.

Also, this is likely the first and last time I’ll ever get to talk about Taylor Swift on Acid Stag – and that is a moment I’ll happily cherish.

Here’s to hoping I can get back to doing live US show reviews in 2021!
