Melbourne songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer Albert Salt has been a mainstay in the Australian music scene for nearly a decade and has continued to raise the bar on his brand of alternative/electronic-pop through every release. This week he showcases plenty of depth in production through his brand new EP ’25 Not Doing Alright’, a six-track odyssey full of quirky instrumentation and catchy lyricism that marks his first full length release since 2015.

Featuring previously released singles ‘Daylesford’, ’25’ and ‘Even Out’, ’25 Not Doing Alright’ couples brooding electronic instrumentation with enticing organic elements to create a well-balanced contrast between the two that transfer plenty of groove through the mix. Salt utilises the contagiousness in the instrumentation to bring forth his lively melodies that playfully bounce around the soundscape, and as such add plenty of uplift to the already elevated backdrop created.

Playing a lot of shows and going out and partying, I realised I had a lot to say, and writing these songs provided me with an outlet to get it all out. I was really unsure of what I was doing with my life. So the songs all came together incredibly quickly and I think it was all fuelled by my experiences at the time.” – Albert Salt
